Display on Classroom Projectors

Updated in September 2026 Applies to Windows, macOS, iPad

ClassHelper is engineered specifically for classroom projection: bold visual contrast, clear typography, and a distraction-free interface. This guide covers connecting to classroom projectors and interactive panels.

Connecting and Extending Your Screen

Extending your desktop display is superior to mirroring: students see the whiteboard on the projector screen, while your private laptop screen displays lesson notes and grading tabs.

  1. Connect your computer to the projector or interactive board using HDMI, USB-C, or wireless casting.
  2. Set display mode to Extend:
    • On Windows, press Windows + P and select Extend.
    • On macOS, open System Settings > Displays and configure your projector as an extended display.
  3. Drag your web browser window onto the projector display.
  4. Click Open Whiteboard to display the digital canvas.

Supported web browsers are listed in Supported Web Browsers.

Entering Fullscreen Mode

Browser tabs, bookmarks, and search bars should not distract students during class. Enter fullscreen with a single keystroke:

  1. Click the Fullscreen button in the top right corner of the whiteboard, or press F on your keyboard.
  2. The whiteboard expands to fill the entire projector screen. Press Esc or F again to exit fullscreen.
  3. To hide the bottom widget toolbar completely during focused work, press B. Press B again to restore it.

On iPads, Safari does not support web fullscreen APIs. Instead, add ClassHelper to your iPad Home Screen via the Share menu, as detailed in iPad Troubleshooting.

Classroom Readability Best Practices

ClassHelper formats boards for standard 16:9 widescreen projection:

  1. Heading Sizes: Use the Title Tool for lesson instructions rather than small text boxes so students in the back row read directions easily.
  2. Dark Mode for Dimmed Rooms: In darkened projector classrooms, switch to Dark Theme via the sun/moon toggle in the top toolbar to reduce eye fatigue.
  3. Instant Screen Blur: When you need students to focus attention on you or hide an answer key temporarily, press 1. The entire board blurs until you press 1 or Esc again.
  4. Slide Navigation: Use the slide arrows in the bottom right corner, your keyboard arrow keys, or a handheld wireless presenter remote (Page Up / Page Down) to cycle through lesson slides.

Summary

Extend your computer display to the classroom projector, press F for fullscreen, hide toolbars with B, and blur the board instantly with 1. On iPads, launch from the home screen for borderless teaching.
