Save and Backup Whiteboards
There is no manual save button on ClassHelper, and that is by design: the whiteboard saves automatically to your browser storage as you add tools and customize layouts. A single lesson collection can contain multiple slide boards.
Managing Multiple Slides in a Lesson
Many teachers prepare separate whiteboard screens for the lesson warm-up, active group work, and closing assessment:
- Look at the slide navigator in the bottom right corner of the canvas: it displays two navigation arrows with a slide count.
- Click the right arrow. If a plus icon appears, you have reached the final slide and clicking it creates a new blank slide.
- You can also create a new slide with Ctrl + Enter (or Cmd + Enter on macOS).
- Place widgets on the new slide as needed. To make a widget visible across all slides in that lesson (like the Classroom Timer), select it and press Shift + P.
Switching Between Slides During Instruction
- Click the slide arrows in the bottom right corner, or press your keyboard arrow keys when no widget is selected.
- On wireless presentation remotes, use the Page Up and Page Down buttons to advance slides while walking around the room.
- Click the slide number between the arrows to view a visual carousel of all lesson slides, where you can reorder or duplicate slides.
Where Boards Live and How to Export Backups
Saved whiteboards reside in your browser storage on that specific computer. No data is sent to external cloud servers in the free version:
- Open Account from the sidebar and visit the Data Management section.
- Click Export all data as file. Your browser saves a JSON file containing all your lesson collections, folders, and rosters.
- Store this file in your personal Google Drive, OneDrive, or a USB drive.
- Export backups before major school workstation updates or district technology refreshes.
Details on data storage are explained in What Data is Stored.
Summary
The whiteboard saves automatically while you work. Create multi-slide lessons using the bottom-right arrows, advance slides with clickers, and download offline JSON backups via Export all data as file.
